Expansion into new facilities; Due to increased demand for KWS BioTest services, the company has recently moved into larger laboratory facilities, offering 70% more space. This will allow the company’s scientific staff to meet the increased workload whilst maintaining the high level of quality that clients have come to expect from KWS BioTest. New Website Launched; A new website has been launched in response to increased demand for information about the services that KWS BioTest offers. The new website has greater functionality and more example data from the services that are offered. Expansion of CNS offering into pain; As part of the progressive expansion of KWS BioTest’s CNS offering new models of pain have now been validated. Models of both inflammatory and neuropathic pain are offered including both acute and chronic versions. Validated endpoints include thermal hyperalgesia, mechanical allodynia, motor function tests, incapacitance tests, clinical disease scoring, histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Type II Diabetes/Obesity models launched; The metabolic disorder Type II Diabetes is often associated with obesty and occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin. It is characterised by insulin deficiency, and hyperglycaemia. KWS BioTest now offers a range of models of the disease that exhibit quantifiable clinical symptoms and pathology. Proteomics service now offered; Proteomic analysis is an extremely powerful way of isolating and identifying protein targets and identifying mechanism of drug action. The new service provided by KWS BioTest utilises state of the art equipment for the entire process, from sample preparation and separation by gel-based or gel-free techniques, through to analysis by mass spectrometry and database searching to identify proteins. The capability currently offered includes 2D Gels including 2D Fluorescence Difference Gel Electrophoresis (2D-DIGE), gel free proteomics, mass spectrometry and expert analysis and consultancy. New colitis models offered; Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are forms of inflammatory bowel disease associated with inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the colon and rectum. The pathology causes bleeding from the ulcers and diarrhoea due to the inflammation. KWS BioTest has launched an expanded range of models capable of mimicking acute and chronic symptoms of both Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. Enpoints include clinical signs, pathological changes and biomarkers. |
