Immunoassays
Based on a solid expertise in immunology, KWS BioTest can offer immunoassays of unparalleled quality and service. The laboratory has a proven track record with developing and validating client specific immunoassays in an extremely short timescale.
A selection of the main immunoassay services includes:
- ELISA & ELISPOT – quantification of cell activation, in culture, typically by monitoring levels of either the cytokine produced or the frequency of cells producing it.
- Multiplex assays – screening starting materials, such as tissue culture supernatants, for a panel of multiple analytes simultaneously.
- Antibody screening & isotyping – assessing antibody levels specific for an antigen of interest, including sub-type analysis.
- Western blotting – measuring changes in protein levels/interactions between cell types or treatment groups
- Complement activity – assessing the ability of a compound to modulate the classical or alternate complement pathway.
- Immunoprecipitation – determining the molecular weights of proteins, protein/protein interactions & concentrating proteins.
- Flow cytometry – quantification of cell subsets, including: activated, antigen-specific, proliferating or cytokine producing cells.
- Immunohistochemistry – microscopic visualisation of cells combined with colourimetric staining for cell populations of interest.
- Cytokine/chemokine quantitation – measuring the levels of soluble factors in serum, or tissue culture supernatants, using readouts such as ELISA or Luminex.
- Eicosanoid measurement – quantification of signalling molecules involved in orchestrating inflammation & immune responses, e.g. prostaglandins & leukotrienes.
